Quilt Documentation Day

On Sunday, July 13, 2008, the New Hampshire Quilt Documentation Project (NHQDPII) and the New London Historical Society will sponsor a Quilt Documentation Day during which quilt owners can learn more about their antique quilts and quilted objects.

Please call Maggie Ford at 526-7245 to reserve an appointment. All quilts will be documented free of charge. Copies of the documentation will be available for a fee of $5 per quilt (to defray the costs of copying, photographs, supplies).

NHQDPII, a volunteer organization, is conducting a statewide survey of all quilts, quilt tops, quilted clothing, quilt blocks and unfinished pieces made before 1976. We encourage owners to bring in all such works—not just those made in New Hampshire.

The Documentation Team will examine and photograph quilts at the event, and quilt owners will receive detailed information about the style, approximate date, fabrics, condition, and construction of their quilts. They will also receive expert advice on antique quilt care.

Appraisals for market value, insurance, and donation purposes are also available through NHQDPII for an additional fee—usually $45 to $60, varying by appraiser.
