In the face of current coronavirus crisis, the New London Historical Society is committed to doing its part by observing the limitation of social distancing, meeting size and sanitation requirements. Our top priority is the health and safety of our staff, many volunteers, summer guests and community. All of us are truly facing an unprecedented situation.
The office and Village are currently closed and will remain so until further notice. All phone calls and emails will continue to be answered daily. The board of directors is seeking ways to present some of our planned activities virtually, such the annual Young At Art Show. Students will have the opportunity to submit an artwork via their school art teacher. Please reach out if you don’t have access to an art teacher and we will help get your work submitted. The show will be on the NLHS website and Facebook page beginning May 11.
We are accepting enrollments, without payment, for Hands-on History Camp for the weeks of July 13-17 and 20-24. Additionally, we would all like to see the Village open on our original date of Sunday, May 31, as well as celebrate the June and July events of Living History Day and Strawberry Festival (June 28), Civil War Re-enactment (July 19). But it is currently impossible to predict what will happen in the coming weeks or months.
Please stay tuned to our website, www.newlondonhistoricalsociety.org, and Facebook page for announcements. Today, our hearts go out to anyone’s family that has been impacted by the virus.
