Reenactment with "Abraham Lincoln" and "Mrs. Hale"
7:00 pm - Refreshments
7:30 pm - Program

Admission - free
This program is funded by a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council.
"Our National Thanksgiving: With Thanks to President Lincoln and Mrs. Hale" will be presented by Steve and Sharon Wood of Claremont. Steve will portray our 16th president and Sharon is the editor of the popular 19th century magazine, "Godey's Lady's". Together they will tell the story of Sarah Josepha Hale's thirty-year campaign to have Thanksgiving declared a national holiday. Hale's efforts were successful when Lincoln signed his Thanksgiving Proclamation in 1863.
We can thank Mrs. Hale, a native of Newport, New Hampshire for the Thanksgiving holiday we enjoy today. Attend this reenactment program for historical insight to share at your "Turkey Day" table. This program is a great family event with cookies and milk and a photo opportunity with Abe Lincoln and Mrs. Hale.
