Today, the latest addition to the Transportation Building exhibit was unveiled for members and guests. The Abbot-Downing Mountain Wagon was used for many years on the Mt. Washington Carriage Road. This restored wagon is on loan from its successor company, the Mt. Washington Auto Road, which remains a privately owned enterprise.
Howie Wemyss, its General Manager, provided a fascinating, well-illustrated history of the Carriage Road and the Glen House(s)—several of them, in fact, as they often burned down! We thank Howie for joining us, and the Auto Road for placing their vehicle here for all those in the Lake Sunapee Region to see.
