Members, donors, and volunteers.

There are several ways to contribute to the ongoing mission of the New London Historical Society:

① Become a member

Annual and lifetime membership is open to all. Your membership contribution is tax-deductible. Member benefits include newsletters and free or discounted admission to dessert socials and other events. Join on-line or return a membership form by regular mail.

In 2008, the society is competing for the Finlay Foundation challenge grant, so there's never been a better time to join.

② Volunteer time

The society has no paid staff. Without volunteers, the New London Historical Society would not operate.  Volunteers maintain our buildings, care for our collections, and host our programs. A few specific examples...

· The “Tuesday Gang” constructs new exhibit platforms for carriages.

· The Docents provide guided tours for fourth graders from local schools.

· Collections volunteers add new acquisitions to a database.

· Hospitality members bake apple cobbler or brownies for winter dessert socials.

③ Donate an artifact

The number of items in our collection is enormous, and the vast majority has been donated by area residents. If you have something that might enhance or extend the society's collection, please contact our Acquisitions Coordinator to discuss the item. Our accessions policy is also available for download; this policy guides the Collections Committee in determining whether a donation is acceptable.
