The New London Historical Society was incorporated in the state of New Hampshire on July 27, 1954.
In February 1960 the Internal Revenue Service issued a determination letter recognizing the society as exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to the society are tax-deductible.
